Data Center Haiku Contest Winners!!

JUDGING IS HARD. I'm glad I'm not handing out gold medals for figure skating because I'd be there all night whining through my nose, why can't they ALL get a gold?  I just can't decide on one. Because seriously? You all deserve a gold. Well, most of you. Some of you crushed it on the syllable pattern. You got 5-7-5 confused with 7-5-7, but your effort and creative form ranked right up there with PURE GENIUS.

There were over 50 haiku entries, and they were pretty much all brilliant. You can see about 30 or 40 in these post comments.

My favorites were those that folded seamlessly together a seasonal reference with technical vocabulary, making the haiku smooth and funny. And some of you made me think you have a special relationship with your server farm and all I can say is GET HELP. No seriously, those were among my favorites.

And since we couldn't pick just one, we picked three plus a distinguished honorable mention.

Three Minutes that COULD Change Your Life - newScale Explainer Video

Wouldn't it be great if we could concatenate everything worthwhile into 3 minute chunks?  College would be over in a week, shuttle missions would last a half-hour, and Cricket might actually be a marketable game.  But alas, it is rare indeed when anything lasting only 3 minutes is educational, relevant, AND entertaining all at once.

So I guess that's why we in the hallowed halls of newScale are a-buzz about our new 3-minute explainer video.  The flexible nature of enterprise software as a whole makes explaining it in ways my Mother-in-Law can understand as challenging as explaining PC registries to - well, my Mother-in-Law.

But I think we're on to something with this fun little video.  Give it a look-see and see if you can figure out where newScale is going and why we're excited to be going there.  It may not actually change your life, but you may just find that this is 3 minutes you were happy to invest.

By the way, my Mother-in-Law LOVES it.

*a seasonal reference can be about weather, colors, or artifacts of nature like "tree", "sand", or "breeze".
